Irish College of Psychiatrists hosts First New
Members Reception
The Irish College of Psychiatrists recently hosted a reception
for New Members of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
34 psychiatrists who passed the MRCPsych examination in the past
year were awarded certificates and formally welcomed to the College
by the President, Dr Mike Shooter. The Chairman of the Irish College
of Psychiatrists, Dr Colette Halpin and the Chairman of the Northern
Ireland Section, Dr Fred Browne also welcomed the New Members.
Family and friends of the new Members were invited to attend
the ceremony and invited to a reception afterwards.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive and Head of
Central Secretariat of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and
the Officers, Executive Committees and Administration of the Irish
College of Psychiatrists.
This is the first time that this event has taken place in Ireland.
To date it has usually been held in London, however in the future
it will be an annual event held in Ireland for all new Members
of the College working in Ireland.
This is a very significant and important development. It is one
of the many new nitiatives that are part of the ongoing changes
in the College in Ireland.
